My Malachi,
Today you are eight months old. Eight whole months. I say it every single month, but I just cannot help it. Where has the time gone!! You are so full of joy and busier than ever. Oh what adventures this month has held!!
This month you have grown leaps and bounds over last month. You are on the move! You are crawling like a champ, you stand up on just about everything, and you climb now. You have not quite mastered climbing onto the couch but you get off of the couch like a pro. Your daddy taught you that one. :) You are on the verge of walking, which is slightly terrifying, but amazing all at the same time. You have a push toy that you finally figured out! You move with a mission, but you havent quite figured out how bend your knees when you're walking yet. It looks very penguin like, which I love it. You can keep that for as long as you would like!
You are growing so fast!! At your last sick visit, of the three you have had this month, you were 21.3 lbs. Big boy!! You have really thinned out since you started crawling. You are all muscle!! So strong and so energetic. You are in all 12 month clothes, with a few pairs of 9 month pants still in there because your legs are so short!, and all 18 month pajamas. You are still rocking size 3 diapers and you are in size 3 shoes. You are wearing 18-24 month hats and your winter coat is 18-24 months also. You are just getting so very big, my little man. I cannot even believe how nicely you are growing.
You love books this month. You love turning the pages by yourself and you are all about these three little Santa Claus books that I found at a garage sale. Not sure what it is about those three books, but you love them. You still love Duffy and your little stuffed Mickey Mouse.
You are very into interactive toys this month. You like figuring things out and seeing how they work. You have a cube that has different buttons on each side that sings songs and makes animal noises that Nonna and Grandpa got you. And your fischer price house is a big hit. You crawl through it, open the door, turn the lights on and off, check the mail and in the last few weeks you started climbing the house. Im sure that is not the intended purpose for it, but hey, whatever works. We also bought you a toy box/activity box at a garage sale, before you were born actually, and and you are finally old enough to play with it! You love pushing the beads and moving the shapes on the sides. The way that you go on adventures and know how to do things amazes us. I hope that you are always an explorer. Just like your daddy.
You are still all about Mickey Mouse and we have added Doc McStuffins this month. You love the music and the bright colors. You also really took to Little Einsteins. You like the music a lot. Im glad we are branching out a little bit. Your dad and I can only watch the same episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so many times before we go a little crazy haha!!
So far you say "mum-mum, hi, and buba". We are working very hard on dada. Your dad is becoming very impatient waiting for you to say that one. You still only have two teeth but I know more have to be on the way! You are a drool bucket to say the least and you chew on everything. So we know there are more that are so very close!! But I have to admit I love your little two toothed grin.
Sleeping is getting better! You are doing great in your own room and you love, love being in there. You have so many fun things happening and so many toys to play with. You have learned to go in and then you shut the door behind you. You are such a stinker!! You are just now getting over cold number three for this month, so that has messed with your sleeping somewhat, but you slept a full ten hours straight with not one wake up two nights ago and the last two nights you have done very well also!! We are on the upswing with sleep and your dad and I are very very grateful for that, my little man!!
Your personality has gotten bigger this month, if that is even possible. You are so full of joy and life and you love me and your dada so much. Your facial expressions are huge and so cute. You get so excited so easily now and I cannot believe how expressive you are! You make the cutest excited face with a big wide mouth and then you smile from ear to ear. Those eyebrows still give you away and honestly I think they always will. You have learned what the word no means and you listen really well for your age. We have started teaching you what is hot and what bites and what not to touch. And you really understand and take to it. The only thing you have a hard time with is not sticking your fingers in the VCR. I dont know what it is about that thing, but your little fingers somehow always end up in there. We even tried rigging the opening so that you couldnt get into it and somehow you managed to remove the plastic that we stuck in there and you had your fingers right back where they are not supposed to be. Oh, Malachi. We are working on it :)
We are so excited for the Holidays!! You are in for such fun and we really cannot wait to experience the magic through your eyes. I have all of your Holiday outfits purchased and ready to go and I bought your Christmas Eve pajamas yesterday so you are all set!! Your Thanksgiving onsies are are washed and ready to wear and we are even more excited because your Grandma Morris surprised us and is coming to celebrate with us for Thanksgiving!!! She is just so very excited to be able to come and spend your first big holiday with you. Then we are getting ready to head to North Carolina to celebrate Thanksmas with the Morris' and then we are so very excited about some new very special traditions we are starting for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with you. It really will be so very much fun!!
Malachi you are the most precious thing in our world. Nothing could ever change the depths of our love for you. Your sweetness, your gentle snuggles when you are tired, your feistiness and your adventurous spirit are just the best around. The way that you already know how to praise the Lord, your love for music and your joy amaze us each and every day. Baby boy I pray that you will know God all the days of your life. I pray that your dad and I will seek the Lord so that we can be worthy to raise a little boy with a calling as deep and as beautiful as yours. And I pray that you will never be afraid to be who you are. That the world will never change you. That you will be sweet and gentle and joyful all the days of your life. That you will always want to go on adventures and that you will never stop playing just because you grow older. Who you are is amazing, my Malachi. I am honored to be your mama. Thank you for showing me a real picture of Jesus' love each and every day.
I could eat you up, I love you so.
All my love,
Your mama
